Irachi Puttu

Irachi Puttu

Ingredients

For the meat stuff

  1. Chicken (cooked & minced) - 1 cup
  2. Shallots (chopped finely) - 4 to 5 nos
  3. Ginger (chopped finely)- ¼ teaspoon
  4. Garlic (chopped finely) -¼ teaspoon
  5. Red chilly powder -1 teaspoon
  6. Turmeric powder -¼ teaspoon
  7. Fennel seeds -1 or 2 pinch
  8. Chicken masala- ½ teaspoon
  9. Salt - to taste
  10. Oil - as required

For Puttu

  1. Rice flour - 2 cups
  2. Grated coconut -1 cup
  3. Water approximately - ½ cup
  4. Salt - to taste

Preparation method

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Fry the shallots.
  3. Add ginger and garlic and fry well.
  4. Add red chilly powder, turmeric powder, fennel seeds and chicken masala.
  5. Add salt and cooked chicken to it. Keep stirring until everything is mixed properly.
  6. Add salt and water to the rice flour & mix in required consistency. It should neither be too wet nor too dry.
  7. In a puttu maker, layer 2 teaspoon grated coconut, rice mixture, then the meat stuff, again rice mix then grated coconut & steam till done.

:- Any meat can be used instead of chicken.
